Theoretically, let's pretend you all had the money to blow on it.
Would any of you be interested in buying a self-published book of erotica stories?
I'm needing some cash and I'm thinking of compiling some of my favourites of my erotic stories into a book on Lulu or somesuch. They can't be published "truly" at this point anymore since I've posted them on my site and all and most publishers want first exclusive rights. I'm just wondering if that's the sort of thing someone might buy.

To tell you the truth, I wouldnt buy it, but only cause im a slackass & I dont read anything bar the daily paper and maybe some trashy magazine. I have a hard time concentrating long enough to read a story though, most of the others read, so you never know, good luck, I hope you can drum up some interest in it

I'm not into erotica myself, but I know that there is a huge market out there for it.

I'm not into erotica myself, but I know that there is a huge market out there for it. And it would probably have to be published under an alias name (i.e. Dr. Suess) because it would be a little odd reading about the personal experiences of that nature of someone I know...

To be honest ... no, but that's also on the assumption that it's het erotica, which I wouldn't be touching with a ten foot barge pole. If it were lesbian erotica, I might think about it, although admittedly it's not my usual reading.

I will have to be entirely honest and say no, but the best of luck to you! It's so hard to make any money writing.

Oh, they're not personal experiences. I'm a virgin. I just like writing erotica. I publish all my work, erotic or not, under the same penname. To be honest ... no, but that's also on the assumption that it's het erotica, which I wouldn't be touching with a ten foot barge pole. If it were lesbian erotica, I might think about it, although admittedly it's not my usual reading. I write... everything. XD MOST of what I write is heterosexual, yes, but I do write gay and lesbian erotica as well as what I suppose can only be called "other"- hermaphrodites and such.

Well you could take your stories down off your site and see if a Publisher would want it then. Because you do have to ask yourself, if you already have it up for free would anyone want to buy it?

Well you could take your stories down off your site and see if a Publisher would want it then. Because you do have to ask yourself, if you already have it up for free would anyone want to buy it? People buy webcomics printed in books that they can read for free. And people also buy written works they can read online for free. As for taking them down... It doesn't quite work that way, though. Even if I take them down, they've been published and I'd be committing a crime if I signed over first rights, since technically they wouldn't be first rights- they'd been published on my site. And almost every publisher requests first exclusive rights as part of the publishing contract. Besides, I'm fully aware that many of my short stories don't quite stand alone. They're too in universe. Very few of them are publishable on they own; they need to be published as a compilation, or a companion piece to a novel or somesuch.
