EDIT
Their makeovers are done! And... it took a very, very long time. XD I think I'm probably the first person ever to spend hours restoring fakies. But pictures! If the pictures are good enough to use as Remco reference, Skimble, feel free to use them.
Mom and the babies. I was surprised by how vibrant their colors were under the grime! The yellow one needed a partial eye repaint, and all three needed some very serious work with nail polish remover and cotton swabs.
Auntie Mange, the early Remco. She... doesn't look much better. XD I spent two hours getting this nasty gray layer of dirt off of her, only to discover that the plastic underneath was also that gray color.
Eye comparison?
Here's Mange and the white Remco pony side-by-side. The white Remco is very, very white, if that gives you an idea of Auntie Mange's color. ;D
This was more of a customization. This purple baby didn't have hair, her hooves were chipped up, and her eyes needed to be almost completely redone. Her hooves aren't painted as neatly as I would like (benign essential tremor and straight lines don't mix, I guess!), but it's an improvement!
Her name's Violetta. She hates being photographed, I think, because none of the pics I took of her really turned out. XD
A kind MLPA member added this blue girl to a package she sent. The poor fancy pants baby was kind of a mess, but a little scrub and conditioning was all it really took.
I'd appreciate a comment or two along the lines of "It was totally great to restore fakies that you don't really plan on keeping--definitely not a waste of time!"
Among the fakies I can expect to arrive at my doorstep in the next couple of weeks is a very special gift that I bought myself off of Ebay for a grand total of $13, which included shipping:
A MOC "Hair Pony." XD The backcard just kills me--I had to buy her. That's one pony that I'll be keeping inside her happy plastic bubble. You can expect plenty of pictures of her and her Hair backcard when I receive her.
