I saw this article on Yahoo News today. It was broadcast on CNN, apparently. (Slight gross warning! It shows several shots of a dead animal.) www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2009/09/01/roldan.chupacabra.KSAT?iref=videosearchIt amazes me how easy it is to become a national sensation these days. It's a frikkin dead dog!!! Not a chupacabra or anything mythical. Just a poor dead dog. The guy who "captured" it is even a taxidermest, which means that he stuffs and alters dead animals for a living. This is so obviously bullcrap that I'm actually pissed that they covered the story. Apparently searches for "Chupacabra" have skyrocketed as people view the video over and over. Stupid people are easy to trick, I guess. The dude wanted his 15 minutes of fame, so he claimed to have found a monster. It's a story as old as time. This is exactly like when those dudes claimed to have the body of Bigfoot in their freezer a few months ago. That turned out to be a scam, and it was a lot more convincing in the beginning than this Chupacabra nonsense. And around the same time, there was that dead thing that washed up on the beach and people were claiming it was a "monster". Turned out to be a dead raccoon or something. Today's internet lesson? Use some effing common sense folks. If it has dog teeth, dog ears, dog feet, a dog's tail, and basically looks like a poor dead dog.....then it's probably NOT a chupacabra. /endrant

Yeah the Chupacabra nonsense is a big load....and it resurfaces with this dead Chupa BS now too *shakes head* If there was such a thing as the Chupa roaming around Texas...it probably is just a nasty looking mutant dog. But I'm pretty sure the whole thing is a pure scam through & through.
Although I hope you guys don't think I'm 100% bonkers but I do believe & know there are plenty of creatures out there that humans have not seen before. Okay not intresting things like unicorns, dragons, Loch Neck Monster, Big Foot...but more on the lines of crazy looking mutations of other animals or crazy looking fish that live on the bottom of the deepest seas.
This is unrelated...but kind of not...& I've wanted to post it for awhile now so what the hey. Here is my point. My sister showed me this a few months ago. This 'thing' was spotted in a sewer drain in a neighboring town of mine in North Carolina. This was all over the news here & everything.
Seriously WTF is this slug/algae sucker fish/raisin/testicle/brain looking creature??? Warning...it's gross looking guys.
If it winds up being a scam too, then I'll totally feel like an ass.... :\ But just wanted to share!

I did some research, and came up with this. Ignore the article. Scroll down and check out the comments. It's a small ball of some type of worm, apparently. It looks gross and gigantic, but that pipe the camera is in is only about 6 inches across. The blurriness of the image (either from the original video or being converted to YouTube) also makes it appear to be one animal, but if you look closely you can definitely see what looks like little worms, especially at the center. It is disgusting and creepy, though. *wanders off to watch videos of "monsters" on YouTube*

Neat thanks for finding this article. So "the Raisin Slug" as it has been called is actually a cyst of thousands of worms floating around.... I'll let my sister know the case of what this was a mutation of was solved. I remember when it first came out...people were freaking about it on the news....I guess they thought they were going to come up from the sewers one night & eat their babies or something. I wish there was something on youtube with all the footage of the citizens in the town the news interviewed. Of course they were like the craziest people they could find on the street & some were crying & some said they were going to have their guns loaded & ready for when it came up. I laughed my ass off seriously...it was hilarious. Also my hubby is chiming in after I showed him the article you sent & he has a theory on the Chupa sightings (back when it was supposedly 'alive' & running around in Texas) was probably people seeing a coyote with really bad case of mange...

That was a very mangy dog.....Do we really have so few cases of severe mange here that people don't have a clue what a severely mangy dog looks like??? I mean come on!!! People are dumb. Talking about how long it's legs are compared to it's body. Can't possibly be a dog! *rolls eyes* It has a very sight hound shaped head. Guess what, sight hounds have long legs!
