Lol. I'm thinking of picking up Jingo but maybe I should finish 'The Way of the Shadows' by Brent Weeks since I left it half read a while ago. XD
I've thought about picking up Inkheart and I've wanted to read Stardust since I saw the movie a while back. XD

I just read the whole Twilight series. It wasn't bad, but it was too predictable.
After that I read Dean Koontz's "Velocity" I liked that, you never knew what was going to happen and the end threw me foor a loop.
Now I'm reading one that a friend handed to me: Elizabeth Chandler's "Kissed By An Angel" it's sweet.
Next up: Dean Koontz's Frankenstien trilogy -or- Clive Cussler's "Dragon"

I'm curious about the Twilight series, but the phrase "sparkly vampires" rather turns me off. :/

I read all the Twilight books since I love reading about vampires. The books were good but not what I was expecting (really gorey like I was hoping for) but still fairly good reads. Anne Rice is where its at when it comes to vampire novels. I just finished "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. One of the best books I've read in awhile & I cried a lot. They are releasing the movie in December & Peter Jackson is the director (I'm a LoTR dork hehe) so I'm really excited because I know he is going to make the special effects in Susie's afterlife world amazing!! Mmm here are the links for trailers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=js3U2RwmPTs&feature=related^ from ET www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWyNYxGZonI^ Full trailer

I dont really read anything bar the newspaper, I suppose im just happier drawing or doing something with my hands. I wish I could get into reading, I used to enjoy it, my mind just seems to be on other things too much.

Oh, FUN thread! I've just started Robin Hobb's 'The Dragon Keeper', but sad to say, I haven't really read much of it yet. I've recently finished Diana Gabaldon's Cross Stitch, though, and fell in love with Claire... Starrypaws, I haven't read all of the Discworld books or even in order, but I really liked Night Watch. Or anything with Vimes and Carrot or Nanny Ogg... Can I (third? fourth?) Stardust? It's awesome. Different from the movie, but awesome in totally different ways. But so is anything by Neil Gaiman... I've read all the Night Angel trilogy - it's a catchy, easy read, although a tad overrated, IMO. Still good, and I found it hard to put down - I just felt like the narrative was a little 'dumbed-down' in places... I don't like Twilight full stop (I find Edward so hard to like), so just go and enjoy that without me. I'll just mentally rewrite the series so it's Bella/Alice, LOL! My favourite recent reads have been anything by Brandon Sanderson. I also need to reread The Name of the Wind again... Edit: Because I actually wrote 'Vimes/Carrot' and that looked way too much like a slashfic...

I've just started Robin Hobb's 'The Dragon Keeper', but sad to say, I haven't really read much of it yet. Robin Hobb! Have you read anything else by her, m'dear? There's one character of hers that I'm absolutely in love with, and I've missed having someone to geek out about him with. Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman are my heroes. I haven't read as many Discworld novels as I would like--they're hard to find, and college keeps me so busy that reading for fun almost never happens--but I adore Pratchett's Death. Come to think of it, I love Gaiman's Death, too. And Good Omens? One of my favorite just-for-fun reads ever. Gaiman's Graveyard Book is pretty fantastic, too, for a quick read. Mostly, though, I read nonfiction and things assigned for school. Brit Lit and philosophy tend to involve a lot of reading--not that I mind! I need to read all of the classics that're sitting on my shelf before I can let myself read more Pratchett. My very favorite things to read, though, are plays. I've gotten through Shakespeare, so now I'm just reading anything I can get my hands on. My very favorite work of literature ever is "The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov... but all of his work is brilliant. I'd be reading "The Seagull" right now if I hadn't been stupid enough to lend it to someone. I mean, I have a backup copy in an anthology, but I lent her the pocket-sized version that I carry in my tote. ._. And I'm typing too much and you all probably think I'm a complete dork, yeah? Does anyone here read Kurt Vonnegut?

Ooh, I totally agree Skimble. I hate Edward. I'm really not fond of the character all together (although I admit I was voting for Jacob instead of Alice), but the actor that plays him is just horrid. He is not just a highly un-attractive person (in my eyes), but is an absolutely awful actor. Awful. Can I say that again? He's AWFUL!!!
*sigh* I did like Bella though. The books were easy to read like Harry Potter books were, and the scene was pretty believable, but they were on the boring side (IMO).
I can't wait to get back to my Dean Koontz and Clive Cussler books, I need some action and suspense.
*edit to add* Oh, and that Elizabeth Chandler book I'm reading made me cry today. At work. Yes. Of course I ended up dispatching by myslef too since the other dispatcher went home sick, so when the radio went off and I had tears running down my cheaks, yes, I went across the radio sounding like i had been crying.

My husband reads to me while I wash the dishes . He read the entire Twilight series to me and Meyers' THE HOST as well. We refuse to watch any of the movies. Right now we have just started AND THUS WAS ADONIS MURDERED, which promises to be a lovely murder mystery.

*snorfles* The question is actually what haven't I read, to which the answer is: Luck of the Wheels, Cloven Hooves, and Alien Earth. I've read everything else. So tell me, who's your favourite, and let us geek together! Mine? Etta, followed by Burrich. But it's hard not to get attached to most of Hobb's characters, so be assured of mutual geekery. The fact that they're all so wonderfully flawed never fails to astound me; I only wish that I could do it so well! I studied Shakespeare at uni, and damn, it was the best class we ever took. Our lecturer would get actors in to read to us, and then he'd stand at the front of the room and yell out the battle-speeches from the history plays, while we'd pound our fists against the tables. We had the best time that semester! So many people don't seem to get the awesomeness that is Shakespeare... *screams* Dishonour not your mothers! Ahem... Shelle, the eyes on the actor that plays Edward freak me the hell out. I know, I'm gay and therefore majorly biased, but still. He just ... creeps me out, it's so not attractive...
