This poem gives an odd implication that I write a lot of filk\fanfiction by being the first thing I post here, but in reality I write very little of both. XD;;
A Hameln no Baiorin Hiki filk poem. I actually did write it as a song but besides the tune being in my head, I've never wrote out the music. Though it wasn't intentional when I wrote it it dawned on me when I typed it up from my notebook that this is quite obviously a Hameln themed song.
Dedicated to Michiaki Watanabe.
This one's been published before in a literary journal. Yay! I got paid a fairly impressive price for it, which was quite shocking. The money was used to buy stuff while I was in Japan instead of something useful. >_>;;
~~~~~
I saw him clench the frog As if to choke its life away Rubbed the amber bricklet in his hair And then started to play
Hmm-la-tai, hmm-la-tai Although he acts so tart Hmm-la-tai, hmm-la-tai He has usurped my heart
The skillful fingers of artisan Dance across the strings From G to D to A to E And sing of wondrous things
A plethora of plucking pizzicatos Purloin the breath from my soul And as he plays an upbeat melody He cracks a smile dole His golden locks, his ruby eyes His lustrous lips, so pale and thin I must simply have this gorgeous boy Who makes love to the violin
Arco up, sliding down I cannot help but dream Arco up, drifting down That he will become mine
Hmm-la-tai, hmm-la-tai Although he acts so tart Hmm-la-tai, hmm-la-tai He has usurped my heart
