I've only done two customs in my life, and one is a fakie. I can't post him on the Arena, so I'll spam him here. He was my first and so far only attempt at painting eyes. I rooted him with some super soft yarn. He started as the pink-haired diaper baby from the Walgreen's sets, back before I realized that fakies are awesome. Fortunately I've been able to replace the original pink-haired form. (One in decent condition found with her mom at a flea market, and a mint one from the ever-wonderful Shellebelle.) Meet Baby Spliff! Be kind, I'm still really new to pony customizing. ^_^"

Aw, KK, he's gorgeous! And it's always nice seeing customs with non-nylon hair, I always think they look so cute.
Great job! I think the green eyes are just lovely...

Thanks! ^_^
I wish you could all feel the yarn. It's so soft and wonderful, and it doesn't fray at all. I think it was called "Lion Suede" or something.

It's not the fact that he's a fakie, it's the stoner theme. Pot leaf, the number 4:20 (worldwide smoking time) and his name are all stoner references. When I first finished him, I PMed Loa to ask if he was appropriate to be posted on the Arena. Her response was "Definately not." Something about how there's kids on the forum or something.
Personally I don't think a leaf and a number is all that offensive, especially considering that I've seen a couple pretty gory zombie pony customs posted on the arena (and one other stoner pony that apparently got overlooked).....but rules are rules. *shrug*

Ah that sucks. I mean I've seen some pretty "adult" looking custom ponies posted up there...PLENTY of times with lacey corsets molded on & elevator heels molded on their feet, fishnet stockings painted on, & some veryyyyy long lashes on ponies. You could be extreme about your thoughts & think these insinuated that they are ponies of possibly a promiscuous nature? Or you could be coy & say they are just being "flirty". I mean don't get me wrong & no disrespect to any of the customizers, I loved them & they were very well made....but they run rampant up there in there custom section these days. But seriously, how is that message any better for the under 18 crowd that goes up there? Not that I think skank ponies would brainwash kids into a lifestyle....just like I don't think a stoner pony would either. *Sigh*

LOL....I could talk all day about how rediculous I think pot censorship is. Be prepared for some hardcore tl;dr. The thing with pot is that the government (not just the US, but more or less worldwide) has brainwashed multiple generations into believing that pot is some sort of evil poison. Yes, it makes you lazy, dumb, and unmotivated. But how is that any worse than alcohol, which often makes people angry and violent but is still perfectly legal? I mean, if I had a nickel for every time I turned on the news and heard some story about a drunk robbing a liquor store, or beating his wife, or crashing a car into a schoolbus of kids...but how many times do you hear about stoners causing trouble? Never. That's because we get high and sit on the couch watching cartoons and eating Doritos. Pot is less addictive than cigarettes or even caffine. I consider it more along the lines of chocolate....some people are "addicted" to chocolate, but it's not an actual addiction. They just really, really like chocolate. Same thing with pot. It's not possible to form a physical addiction to it. It's also not possible to overdose on pot. I forget the actual number, but I believe that a lethal dose would require smoking 16 pounds in five minutes or something like that. Concentrated THC (like in pill form) can indeed be toxic, but the plant itself is perfectly safe. (Unless, of course, someone has an allergic reaction to it, but I know someone who is allergic to watermelon and raw tomatos, so anything can be dangerous I guess.) The whole "gateway drug" thing is also propoganda. Yes, a lot of hard drug addicts started with pot. But that doesn't mean anything by itself. The government is working backward with the equation, and it skews the results. That's like saying that everyone who is addicted to meth drank coffee before they got hooked, so coffee must have led them to meth. Just because both are present it doesn't mean that one caused the other. It's BS propoganda, and it annoys the living hell out of me. >_< I've been smoking for like six years now, and I haven't spiraled into drug addiction. In fact, I'm really morally against hard drugs. Coke, meth, heroin, etc will mess up your life and probably kill you. I've seen it happen to friends. And even IF all of the lies about the dangers of pot were true....is a leaf and a number on a pony really going to convince some kid to spark up their first joint? I rather doubt it. No more than the corsette ponies would convince them to stand on a corner and turn tricks, just like you said Dita. Interestingly enough, the pot pony who was allowed on the Arena was made as a joke. The girl had been hanging out with a friend, who mentioned that Bow Tie's shy pose made her look stoned. They laughed at the idea of a stoned pony, and the custom was born. But the girl herself doesn't smoke, so perhaps it was the parody factor that made it ok? I don't try too hard to hide the fact that I blaze, so maybe a stoner custom coming from me is worse than one coming from a non-smoker? Like, with her it's a joke, but from me it would be an attempt to convert sober people? I dunno. I was admittedly annoyed when I was first denied, but honestly there's plenty of other places to post him. I have him on DeviantArt, my LiveJournal, probably my MySpace, and of course here. If the Arena insists so hard on keeping everything pseudo-safe for the kiddies (nevermind the skank ponies, zombie ponies, etc.) then it's not my place to put up a fight. It's just as easy to find a different sandbox to play in, where I do have some say in the rules. And the mod team here has unanimously decided that alternative lifestyles, and the discussions thereof, are allowed and embraced here. ^_^ Haha, I totally hijacked my own thread. /endsoapboxwalloftext

Continuing the hijacking!
Honestly, my problem with pot is personal to me and not in general. I don't see the problem with it being legalized at all... you're totally right on it being on the same level or safer than alcohol. I have nothing against people smoking it, really, in general. It's not like it's heroin or anything like that! Now THAT I'm 100% against.
I just don't like people smoking it around me. Besides how they act, I just plain think the stuff's disgusting smelling. But I also don't like people being drunk around me either, because of how they act. I don't discriminate because it's pot- I just don't like being around intoxicated people in general. I didn't even like being around my mom when she was hopped up on pain meds for her back.
Likewise, I've never done pot and I'll never do pot for the same reason I won't ever get drunk. I don't like the idea of having anything that recreationally affects the way I think or act in my system.
My only problem with the "pot culture" is when people make it their lives- they do nothing but smoke up and don't do anything else. And I know that's FAR from true for most pot users. I know someone who can do it legally (medically, in California) and smoking pot isn't his life. I personally just don't think someone's life should be nothing but smoking pot, and like said, I know that's far from true for MOST people, but I do know some people like that and it's a waste. Some people do promote such a lifestyle, though, and that's what I'm against. But I'm against any lifestyle of just lazing on your ass all day and doing no good for anyone, whether drugs are involved or not. =P

I totally understand you, Zainin. I just had a conversation with a friend about that last night, actually. I was explaining that I don't really have a problem with people drinking, but I don't drink much myself so it's not really my thing to hang out with drunk people. I just can't relate to them, ya know? I understand about not liking the smell, since I hated it before I started smoking. It smells like a skunk, lol. But now that I'm a smoker, I love the smell. I guess it's an aquired preference.
