Yeah, I'll add that the average file size for me is probably about 10 MB, for about a 4-5 min song.

Yeah, 500 or 800 is probably more than I'd even use. Nano is looking good....
But, it might catch fire or argue with Vista. Hmm.

To be honest, anything could argue with your OS. It can just be bad luck sometimes! I'd recommend doing a search to see how others find iPods and Vista, but I swear to god, I've had no problems at all.

I have vista, and although vista didnt want to talk to just about anyting else, it had no issues with the ipod. Id say you would be pretty safe unless your purchasing an older model one, if your getting a new version, it should be fine. But I agree with kim, if you do a search to see what others have to say, were only a couple of voices.

I don't know about the Nanos and the fire thing but iPhones are known to as are the 1st-5th gen. This is due to a faulty battery; while plugged in to charge, the battery SHOULD shut off after it's done charging. However, it won't always, and it'll overcharge, which causes the system to overheat and even catch fire. The batteries don't last nearly as long as people say they do, either. >_>
A lot of people called planned obsolescence on Apple over iPods.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Microsoft OR Apple. I just have a loathing for Apple after being shafted by their products so many times now, and I'm telling my experience with it. XD;;

Yeah, I'm looking for reviews on various sites right now, actually. I'll definitely be getting a new one, probably from Best Buy or something like that. I know it's superficial, but I saw the pink one in person at Walmart, and it's REALLY pink. Absolutely gorgeous.

The pink one is gorgeous KK - I really liked the lime green one too, my camera is about the colour of the pink one though, when I got it my dad said 'you got that cause it was pink didnt you?' lol!

The green one is my second fave! The photos on the site really don't do the colors justice. They're so striking in person.

The pink one is gorgeous. I wanted either the pink or the black, but my Dad got me the purple one. It looks more blue to me, which I find annoying ... so it's now in a bright pink case!
(Kind of random comment, LOL...)

BTW, Japan HATES any iPod except Nano.
I seriously almost cried when I saw a Lamento iPod skin in Harajuku because it's impossible to find anything except Nano skins there. ~_~;; I still want my bloody Lamento skin. I'm going to have one custom made for my Zune when I finally save enough for it.

Funny, that. Finding skins and cases for the new iPod Nano isn't easy in Australia, if you don't want to pay through the roof. I looked for ages to find some here...

The section for iPod accessories in Walmart is as big as their entire MP3 player section. I kid you not. It's two sides of the same aisle. Best Buy will probably be the same. Accessories are HUGE here in the US. (Not as much as in Japan, I suppose, but still.) And honestly that's a big selling point for me. I like my technology to be purdy to look at. :B

Seriously, Australia IS the backwoods compared to the rest of the (well, to use a huge stereotype, western) world. We just don't get the same sorts of things, in the same availability...

I think I'm going to risk it and get one anyway. This is probably the only time in my life when I'll have disposable income, and I decided a long time ago that I'm going to spoil myself a bit with it. I've heard that Xbox 360 can catch fire too, but that didn't stop me from getting one. And honestly, if it breaks, I probably won't even bother to fight with Apple about getting it fixed/replaced. I'll just buy a cheaper MP3 player and get on with life. *shrug*

I got a Zen. It was bought as a gift so I forgot what it cost. I got it because if I was told if you get MP3s from somewhere other than iTunes (first I listen to a lot of foreign music that I doubt you can find on there and second I am not gonna pay for music if I don't have to) you have to burn it to a CD and then rip it before you can use them.
Everyone I know has T-Mobile. They also have a 5 favorite people kind of thing as well and their network is just as good as Verizon's. I would see who can give you the best offer and go with that.
