...or collect? because I started messing around with repainting, sanding and fixing some (you know, old ones that had their legs snapped off and stuff). Here's a buckskin I painted when I was getting back into the swing of painting the models. I was wondering if anyone here did or collects them in general. I have four horses now that I nabbed for $2 sitting in a box waiting for some epoxy sculpt and new model paint, but I was wondering what to paint them/mold them into. Here they are: $2.00. For serious. I about freaked. Of course only two are Breyers *makes face* but that's okay. I can still fix up the other oones. They need love, too. *just had a thought - LOL, they're ''fakie Breyers''. Fantasy horses? Maybe a Pegasus? Stuff like that? Thing is I'll probably try selling them on eBay later, since I don't have room for all these extra collections, so I'd need some feedback. What do you think would be cool to do?

Cool if you do decide to make any of them into colorful customs, let me know! I'm working on a custom filly type webpage right now & I really need some material for it for it's launch as. I think a pegasus with really fun colors would be awesome. I think wings kind of like Wind Dancer wings would look awesome. I might try to buy her from you once you finish if I can afford them You are really good!

Fantasy horses sound fantastic. I second the vote for pretty colors, too.

I only did one other one, Zainin! LOL The images are so big I have to text link any way :0 This is the first, he's not as good: www.air-lobster.com/art/img723.jpgReally ditabee? Nifty! I'll be sure to post pics when I get them done - right now I'm trying to decide how much epoxy I need to make wings and fix all their legs, ears, etc. XD Fantasy horsies are winning the votes! I'm really thinking they'd be fun to do so I think I will :3

Here is a link to the pictures I will be posting on the site...whenever I finish. I got permission from other customizers to use their custom fillies. s60.photobucket.com/albums/h38/ditabee/Custom%20Fillies/^ I did the Rosebud & Amethyst customs but I actually recently picked them back up & started customizing them again since they seemed so plain & boring to me. I also have a "Luna Moth" inspired one, a "Tutti Frutti" inspired one & a "Ruby" inspired one that I am currently working on besides the other 2 (Amethyst & Rosebud). If I could only just leave them alone & quit customizing them & let them be finished I hadn't gotten around to doing the wings on 'ol Luna yet. I'd love to see what you come up with!

OoOoh, they're all so pretty.
o3o
They make me squish inside with feminine glee. I really like the Amethyst one of yours in particular because I have a fondness for purple.
That blue and white one is simply gorgeous too. :3 I went off the deep end today and bought a Cabbage Patch Koosa for $50 (still in the box!) so now I have to wait to buy my epoxy, sadly...but at least I'll be able to see just how much I need. I think it'll be a lot since I'll have to sculpt the wings on one of the larger, sturdier models.

Gorgeous. <3
So, is it possible to rehair them, or do those customs have their original hair? I have a Dream Beauty who's mane has been cut to about an inch long, and it would be nice if I could fix her. She's one of the ones who was supposed to come with interchangable forelocks and tails, so it's possible to get inside through the panel on her belly, but I can't seem to find a way to get the beaded plastic part out to access her mane.

Well some of those pictured have re-hairs & others don't I don't think. I can only speak of my 2 since I actually braved it & rehaired my guys since their original hair was cut pretty drastically & there was no hope for them any other way. Oh & "Vesta" (orange/yellow/red) custom. I have her in my collection but don't unfourtunately know who customized her to begin with. :\ My method of rehairing is so ghetto that it's actually funny (Seriously!). But my hair seems really secure in there when I brush their hair so you know if it works then, it's all good! The blue & white one was done by 'pop-girl' over at the Arena. Hers has the original hair. Yes it's gorgeous & I'd really like if she would do more DB's or fillies. She is so talented! I really wish more people would do more filly customs in general! I'd snatch them all up if I could! KK~Let me break out one of my DB Trim n' Grows to see if maybe I can help figure out how to rehair these guys...hmm. I dunno how you would go about rehairing these without breaking the pearl part? Personally I would just take out the needlenose pliers & yank like heck on what's left of the mane until it comes out. I'd take the chance & if the pearl part breaks, then it breaks...even better if it wouldn't though! I would *think* that you could still rehair without the pearl/bead portion but I'm not 100% how vital the bead portion is to keeping the mane in place all together. :\

I think the pearly part is rubber rather than plastic, so i don't think it'll straight-up break.
But how do you get the new hair in there? And how on earth do you rehair a pony you can't get inside of?

I've rehaired fashion dolls before with a tapestry needle... you know, the kind with the two tips spaced a little bit apart. You clip the hair as close to the root as you can then poke the rest into the head... then just tapestry needle the new stuff in. Isn't the most efficient method and I'm sure a good yank to the hair could pull it back out but it did the job I needed it to do.

And it just stays? It would seem like it would fall right out...

Mine did, but I rooted it in pretty deeply. And the doll is display only, I rarely ever move him at all, so he really doesn't have much experience being handled. *shrugs* So I don't know if it's really realistic, depending on how much you plan on handling it.

I didn't pry my fillies apart to rehair....I just took needlenose pliers & stuck it down the slot until I found the tab holding the hair together & pulled like heck. I would think it would be the same for a DB but I don't know. Eventually the tab would start to loosen & come out. You might have to grab the nearest man & use them for their muscles to help you out The fillies' hair is in there good & it's not easy to get out. My hands were red, sore, throbbing & blistery afterwards. But eventually the plastic should snap & the hair will come out. Tail is kind of the same concept of getting out but luckily you have a DB Trim & Grow & the tail plug is very accessible to come out. I get 1 hank or 1 1/2 hanks of Nylon Pony hair from DollyHair.com & cut them in half. Take a couple strands...maybe 15-20 strands (just eye it) & tie a knot in the middle. Take a piece of masking tape or heavy duty clear tape & wrap around the knot to create a little plug. Repeat this over & over again until you used all the hair up. Take a nice long strip of the tape & line up all the plugs side by side (close together so you don't have gaps in your mane when you're finished) on the tape. Once completed take glue (I just use plain 'ol Elmers) & squirt over all the plugs liberally (be careful not to get in hair). Make sure to squirt some in between the plugs to secure them better. Let dry overnight. Now take some more tape & put on top. Push the tape down that is on top of the plugs really good so you see the imprint of the underlying plugs. Then just layer the tape over & over again wrapping around & around this tab pushing down the tape portions (again pushing down around the plugs) as you go to make sure this will secure the plugs in. You should eventually have a nice fatty tab. You have to experiment with the width of this tab but the tab shouldn't be able to get in the hair slot all that easily like the width of the tab should be a little bit fatter than the mane slit. I take a flathead screwdriver & push the mane tab in there & you shouldn't see the tape portion at all.. If the mane feels loose at all or it's moving around any...pull the tab out & put more layers of tape on....make it fatter. For the tail same instructions above (1 hank will be used though) but roll the finished tab like those Jelly Roll cake things & wrap a couple layers of tape to secure it as one monster plug. Push in with flathead screwdriver. Whew! That's how I've rehaired & the hair is pretty secured in there. I've brushed & styled their hair plenty of times with no problems of fall out so far. Now I'm curious & wanting to customize & rehair an old baity DB! Hope this might help EDITED to fix a step. I'm sure that the adhesive of the tape will start to break down in maybe 10 or 15 years & the hair might be able to come out a little easier by then so handle with care at that time.
