I don't mean ones that were financially cheapest, but the poorest made darlings of your herd or trade box. (Also not the mankiest, fakies can be cleaned ... just the ones that left the factory in possibly poorer shape than when they entered!) Today Fingerpaints and I hit a really cool $2/discount store, and found some fakies that are pretty danm cheap... The CPK/Circus Baby hybrids are pretty cute (and why we bought them), but it's these Cutie Pony baby knock offs which are my current reigning 'queens of cheap': The pink girl has a HOLE in her rump, a mis-joined head and neck, and squishable plastic: The white girl (of which I could get no really in-focus photos of me squishing her!) is so soft and squishy I can literally crush her in my hand. And her tail falls out as soon as you touch it! Plus, neither of them really stand too well. Poor things, I think they need a whole lot of lovin' in my herd at home, and maybe some home-made crutches... Anyone got a fakie that's worse off than these girls? I need to remind them that they're not as badly off as they think!

How do they let them out of the factory like that? That's just sad.

No idea! But I think the knock-off versions of Chap Mei's Cutie Ponies - both adults and babies - are continually in the running for the 'poorest made fakie' title. Their quality control is about ... nonexistant... I probably wouldn't even have bought the pink baby with the hole, but she was packaged with the only purple CPK/Circus baby on the shelf, and she really is cute: Ironically, the same company who distributed those (you can tell from the back of the card) makes a G3-styled fakie which is much nicer, so if they can QC one kind of fakie, why not the other...?

The real Chap Mei babies are made of solid instead of hollow plastic, right? I recently bought two sets of fake Chap Mei fakies! I leave them MOC though, so I can't really check out their quality but I immediately noticed their hair is much thinner than that of the real Chap Mei's. My babies look a little better than yours though, I think. I'll add pics of those and other cheapies soon! =]

Chap Mei/Cutie Ponies are the original, better quality versions of the scores-upon-freaking-scores of badly made Flutter Pony fakies that flood the market. (They're actually some of the few fakies that I will occasionally throw out on recieving in ebay lots, they're rarely found in nice condition, are almost never desired and rarely leave the factory in good condition!) You know the ones with crowns (that sits upon a small unicorn horn), neck-collars (or a torque if you want to get fancy) and wings attached to a metallic saddle? I don't actually own any at the mo, so I can't take pics for you. They were released in Australia in the late 90s, often in sets with a hard plastic baby (either in the pose featured by the queens of cheap above, or a rearing pose) which came with a metalic wingless saddle. They were pretty cute. The real ones - Chap Mei's - have Chap Mei on their hooves, have better hair (although still not up to the standard of say, Walgreens' fakies) and much harder bodies. The fakes have really squishy bodies, bad eyes, very thin hair and often their necks are poorly joined to their bodies. The queens of cheap above are the baby Chap Mei fakes. This pic was one of the MOC photos Kanthaka posted a while back - you can see the mis-printed eyes, although the baby is nicer than my pair! There was another set for sale at that $2 shop that featured the two baby fakes with one of the adults. I think one day I *might* have to buy a MOC Cutie Pony fake just to mother those poor babies... xcharx, I can't wait to see your pics!

Oh, I had original Chap Mei pony playset, but I throwed it away. Now I kinda regret it... I don't have REALLY cheap fakies- I only buy good ones.

The originals weren't that cheap, thankfully! But I can totally understand, I think many of us here prefer to collect the better quality or more unique fakies over some of the very common cheaper fakies...

I took pics of my fake Chap Mei fakies ^___^ I ended up taking one of the sets out of the package though, since I had to check the quality after reading this topic LOL This is how they are packged Other baby out of the package These really aren't that bad as you can see! I think mine are made by a different company than yours, Skimble, the eyes are different and mine have their 'bangs' painted. These fakies of Remco fakies are the cheapest ponies I have The adult has a hole in her side where the plastic is see-through thin (couldn't really capture it in pics) She is very squishable ^___^ Those pink ponies in your sets are really mixing things up Skimble! Fake Remco fakies with fake Chap Mei fakie symbols? Can it get any worse? XD

Fake Remco fakies with fake Chap Mei fakie symbols? Can it get any worse? XD LOL! OMG, I LOVE the squished-in-the-hand photo! *cackles madly* That's freaking brilliant! Yeah, she looks very much like my babies with the super-thin plastic and the holes, poor dears... I think a lot of the knock offs of fakies - the fake Lanards, Chap Meis and Remcos often come from the same company or are released by several different companies, which explains their extreme commonness and the variation in quality, as you've pointed out. I used to own more of those fake Cutie Pony babies, and while they were cheap, they weren't nearly as cheap as the two new ones! I have to say, though, I like the Chap Mei-style flowers much better than the red hearts that are more common on the fake Remco babies...
